On Lean Turbulent Combustion Modeling
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper investigates a lean methane-air flame with different chemical reaction mechanisms, for laminar and turbulent combustion, approached as one and bi-dimensional problem. The numerical results obtained with Cantera and Ansys Fluent software are compared with experimental data obtained at CORIA Institute, France. First, for laminar combustion, the burn temperature is very well approximated for all chemical mechanisms, however major differences appear in the evaluation of the flame front thickness. Next, the analysis of turbulence-combustion interaction shows that the numerical predictions are suficiently accurate for small and moderate turbulence intensity.

Selected aspects of the supply chain management in the aerospace industry
The paper in the introductory part underlines some factors concerning the aerospace supply chain management (SCM) issue. Authors inform on selected definitions in this topic, levels of supply chain and its maturity. The...
An impact study of a capsule with a rigid wall using the SPH approach
Impact problems have always been of interest in the Aerospace industry because events such as “bird-strikes” occur quite often and necessary studies must be performed to observe the behavior of structures during the impa...
On the synthesis of the pilot optimal control model
The study continues some work of the authors, this time performing a synthesis of optimal control model of the human pilot in systems with input delay, by removing the Padé or Hess approximations characterizing the pilot...
Theoretical and numerical method in aeroacoustics
The paper deals with the mathematical and numerical modeling of the aerodynamic noise generated by the fluid flow interaction with the solid structure of a rotor blade. Our analysis use Lighthill’s acoustic analogy. Lig...
