On the Seismic Cloaking
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2014, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
Geometric transformations are strongly sustained by manufacture of auxetic materials based on the pore size reduction through radial compression molds. In addition, geometric transformations underlie the development of seismic cloaking. The spatial compression of the conventional foams is determined by the shape of the cloaked object. The cloaking structures can effectively convert the destructive seismic waves into a different type of wave whose intensity dissipates quickly. The technique is the same to the scattering waves of light to render objects invisible.

The Influences upon the Quality of the Mineral Aggregates Induced by Technological Vibrations During the Sorting Process
The paper present the results of dynamic analyses concerning the inertial vibratory sieve correlated with kinetic parameters with pits kinetic parameters in order to obtain an efficient sieving process of granularly mate...
Stress Intensity Factor vs. Transversal Deflection - How to Determine the Damage Severity?
This paper compare two methods to determine the severity of a damage occurring in cantilever; the first method is well-known in the literature and base on an approach from fracture mechanics, while the second is contrive...
Chaotic Behavior of Helical Gear-Pair Systems Non-Linear Parametrically Excited
The increased interest for improved gear design has led to extensive research into the field of nonlinear dynamics of such systems. The paper reveals a complex dynamic model to study the chaotic behavior in a gear-pair s...
Determination of the Natural Frequencies of Beams Using Sound Pressure
This paper presents a method to determine the natural frequencies of transversal bending vibrations of beams and plates by means of time-history analysis. As excitation source the sound pressure produced by a speaker was...
THE REDUCTION OF NOISE AND VIBRATION CAUSED BY EQUIPMENT FROM BUILDINGS
Many times, in everyday life, we encounter a variety of problems arising from the inadequate functioning of equipment from civil and industrial constructions. Among the existing equipment in the construction of the buil...
