Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the first in Ukraine Russian translation of the collection Natsume Soseki «Ten Nights of Dreams», executed in 2017 under the guidance of the Odessa translator Maya Dimerli. The publication of this book was the next step in translating the works of the outstanding Japanese writer into Ukrainian over the past fifteen years. The article also includes information about translations of works by Natsume Soseki, performed earlier by Ivan Dzyuba and Miron Fedorishin, remarks about it’s small number. In the article there is also given information about artist’s biography, his philosophical views of zen-buddhism and how these views have reflected on his prose. The author of the article analyses the latest edition of Natsume Soseki in Ukraine, characterizes it’s typography and symbols, which were used, features and advantages. For instance, figure language, differences between Russian and Ukrainian translations etc. Analysed edition may be used as a tool during classes of literary translation for students studying Japanese language. The author express hope about new translations of Japanese classic in Ukrainian.
