Ontology-based Query Expansion for Arabic Text Retrieval
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2016, Vol 7, Issue 8
Abstract
The semantic resources are important parts in the Information Retrieval (IR) such as search engines, Question Answering (QA), etc., these resources should be available, readable and understandable. In semantic web, the ontology plays a central role for the information retrieval, which use to retrieves more relevant information from unstructured information. This paper presents a semantic-based retrieval system for the Arabic text, which expands the input query semantically using Arabic domain ontology. In the proposed approach, the search engine index is represented using Vector Space Model (VSM), and the Arabic’s place nouns domain ontology has been used which constructed and implemented using Web Ontology Language (OWL) from Arabic corpus. The proposed approach has been experimented on the Arabic Quran corpus, and the experiments show that the approach outperforms in terms of both precision and recall the traditional keyword-based methods.

Probabilistic Distributed Algorithm for Uniform Election in Triangular Grid Graphs
Probabilistic algorithms are designed to handle problems that do not admit deterministic effective solutions. In the case of the election problem, many algorithms are available and applicable under appropriate assumption...
Improving and Extending Indoor Connectivity Using Relay Nodes for 60 GHz Applications
A 60 GHz wireless system can provide very high data rates. However, it has a tremendous amount of both Free Space Path Loss (FSPL) and penetration loss. To mitigate these losses and extend the system range; we propose te...
Efficient Key Agreement and Nodes Authentication Scheme for Body Sensor Networks
Technological evolvement of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) gave birth to an attractive research area for health monitoring called Body Sensor Network (BSN). In BSN tiny sensor nodes sense physiological data of patients...
Active and Reactive Power Control of a Variable Speed Wind Energy Conversion System based on Cage Generator
This manuscript presents the modeling and control design for a variable speed wind energy conversion system (VS-WECS). This control scheme is based on three-phase squirrel cage induction generator driven by a horizontal-...
Evaluating Cancer Treatment Alternatives using Fuzzy PROMETHEE Method
The aim of this study is to apply the principle of multi-criteria decision making theories on various types of cancer treatment techniques. Cancer is an abnormal cell that divides in an uncontrolled manner, it is a growt...
