Optimal design of hybrid water-wind-solar system based on hydrogen storage and evaluation of reliability index of system using ant colony algorithm

Abstract

In the current research, feasibility study of using renewable energy resources in isolated regions is conducted independently from the power distribution grid and aimed at supplying electricity at lower cost and taking into account the reliable load supply besides evaluation of reliability index of the system. In the present paper, optimization parameters are assessed with the intention of improving the technical and economic performance of the hybrid system, and also, status of regional water resources based on hydrogen storage in order to supply the required electricity of the region at minimal operational and executive costs. Wind and sunlight radiation data used in the research belong to northwestern region of Iran (Ardebil Province) and ant colony algorithm was applied for minimization purpose. The simulation results enable application of small renewable hydroelectric, wind and solar resources based on hybrid hydrogen storage in the respective region aimed at reliable load supply and enhancement of system reliability during the whole year. The obtained hybrid system has the lowest construction and production costs with a life span of 20 years.
