Optimization of Comfort Properties of Single Jersey Knitted Fabrics
Journal Title: Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe - Year 2015, Vol 23, Issue 4
Abstract
The main goal of this study was to investigate the influence of the knitting structure, loop length, thigtness factor, fibre type and yarn properties on the mechanical and comfort properties of single jersey knitted fabrics. Four different blends of fibres (cotton 50%: viscose 50%, cotton 50%: polyester 50%, cotton 40%: polyester 60%, cotton 30%: polyester 70%) were used to produce a 20 tex yarn count. Each of these yarns was used to manufacture single jersey knitted fabrics. The knits were manufactured on a single feeder sample knitting machine. Twelve different types of single jersey knitted fabrics were produced with different blend ratios and three different densities (loose, medium, tight). All experiments were carried out in a standard atmosphere condition. The goals of our research were to study changes in the mechanical properties of weft knits as a function of the structure and density and to investigate relationships between the hand, knit structure and density. This study was to ensure that the quality of fabric production was maintained according to specific constraints and objectives without producing the comfort properties desired. Statistical analysis using Design Expert Analysis 6.06. also indicates that the results are significant for the air permeability, bursting strength and water vapour permeability of the fabrics.

Study on the Loss of Strength of Denim-like Knitted Fabrics after Different Washing Treatments
Garments produced from denim-like knitted fabrics have been popular for few years because of the many advantages of knitted fabrics. To increase the worn-look denim appearance of these fabrics, washing treatments should...
Treatment of Real Textile Wastewater by Using Potassium Ferrate(VI) and Fe(III)/H2O2. Application of Aliivibrio Fischeri and Brachionus plicatilis Tests for Toxicity Assessment
The paper presents the possibility of applying combined chemical oxidation processes using potassium ferrate(VI) (K2FeO4) and Fe(III)/H2O2 for the treatment of real wastewater from the textile industry characterised by a...
Biodegradation Behaviour of Different Textile Fibres: Visual, Morphological, Structural Properties and Soil Analyses
The biodegradation of fabrics of various types of fibres: cotton (CO), viscose (CV), Modal (CMD), Tencel (CLY), polylactic acid (PLA), polyethylene teraphtalate (PET) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN)) under the attack of micr...
Application of Spontaneous Oxidation Processes of Zero-valent Iron and Electrocoagulation for Reactive Black 5 Removal
Two methods of Reactive Black 5 dye removal were compared in this work, namely electrocoagulation (EC) and one based on spontaneous electrochemical oxidation of zero-valent iron (ZVI). Both methods are based on electrode...
Influence of Structure Variation and Finishing on Woven Fabric Thermal Properties
The paper investigates the influence of fabric structure variations and finishing on the thermal properties of woven fabrics for a tailored garment. Four distinctive pairs of fabrics were investigated, where the weft den...
