Optimization of water management system operation while quality and quantity of water determined
Journal Title: Annals of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. Land Reclamation - Year 2012, Vol 44, Issue 1
Abstract
In this work the optimal operation of the water management system is analysed. The fundamental technical elements of the system are the water reservoirs and the network of the pipelines among the water reservoirs and between the water reservoirs and the water purification plants (WPPs). While the simulations of the optimal system operation, the vectors of the optimal flows are calculated, so that the total costs of the system operation determined by the quality factor F are minimal. The analytical solution for the dynamic optimization problem is the result of the application of the Pontryagin’s maximum principle. The simulation models of the optimal operation of the water management system were created in Matlab/Simulink. While the analyses of the results, the optimal control of some actual water management systems may by studied.

The effect of a hydrological model structure and rainfall data on the accuracy of flood description in an upland catchment
The aim of this paper was to determine the influence of a hydrological model structure and rainfall- -related data on flood parameters obtained from a simulation. The study included an upland river Stobnica, right tribu...
Modeling of water flow in multi-channel river system in the Narew National Park
Anastomosing rivers constitute a rare example of multi-channel systems, which used to be very common before the agricultural and industrial development. Presently few of them remain worldwide and the only example in Pola...
Prediction of yellow lupin yield (Lupinus luteus L.) for northern Poland using weather-crop model
The paper presents an analysis of the impact of meteorological factors (solar radiation, maximum, minimum and mean temperature, precipitation) on the development and yield of yellow lupin Parys cultivar in the northern P...
Comparison of precipitation totals measured by the automatic telepluviometer and the Hellmann rain gauge at the Warsaw Ursynów station in 2000–2010
Popularization of automatic methods of measuring meteorological elements and substituting manual methods creates a problem of maintaining homogeneity of measurement series. In such situations it is necessary to conduct m...
Monitoring of pavement state as a basis for economic regulation of greenhouse gases emissions
Road complex which includes a road network with traffic, road services, car repair businesses, and enterprises for the production of fuels and materials for the repair of roads, is an important source of environmental pol...
