Abstract

Electronic banking has come into existence in order to facilitate the growing daily virtual methods of transactions, like e-business, and citizens' financial affairs. By reviewing the nature and characteristics of e-banking as well as the previous research in the field of entrepreneurship, this article aims to introduce practical entrepreneurial opportunity origins in electronic banking. Based on the results of factors analysis, the origins of entrepreneurial opportunities in e-banking, can be identified to emerge in the form of five factors: continuous and creative review of customers' expectations (mean=4.458), ICT development (mean=4.207), new international laws affecting ICT (mean=3.653), analyzing other banks' electronic services (mean=4.23) and analyzing under-exploited opportunities (mean= 3.48). The factors explain 62% of variance of origins of entrepreneurial opportunities in e-banking.
