ORTHOPHOTOMAP OPPORTUNITIES OF CURRENT USE IN THE AGRO-FORESTRY SECTOR

Abstract

To establish a set of current activities in sectors such as agriculture and forestry with the goal of identifying and positioning various details, it is necessary to use aerial or satellite images as well as coloured orthophotomaps which are characterized by high accuracy and resolution. Four locations in Romania were considered, placed in four different counties (Arad, Bihor, Salaj and Harghita), locations characterized by four land use covers: cultivated agricultural land and forests, forested area, transport tracks within the forest, wooded pastures. The four orthophotomaps were purchased from the corresponding Offices of Cadastre and Land Registration (OCPI) and from of the territorial representatives of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA). There is a direct correlation between the accuracy of the orthophotomaps and the detail level achieved in different practical applications. The acquisition and processing of the orthophotos were achieved using specialized software which allows applications in 2D space, such as: identification and automatic vectorization, interactive vectorization, computation of distances and surfaces, topology construction, acquisition of attributes, construction of data bases, etc.
