Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 54

Abstract

The Ottoman State was calling the territories in the northern part of the Danube daru’l harb, including Wallachia and Moldavia until they accepted the Ottoman dominance. The first relations between Moldavia and Ottomans, expanding into the Danube, started in the second half of the 15th century. After the conquest of Istanbul, Moldavia, which accepted the Ottoman dominance and pay a certain amount of annual tribute, was released into internal affairs and was not turned into an Ottoman state. In the study, the process of establishing Ottoman domination in Moldovia and Ottoman-Moldovia relations until the Yuvan’s rebellion were examined. In addition, the inreasing economic expactations and tight control policies of the Ottomans caused some rebellions in Moldovia. As an example of such rebellions, the reasons of Yuvan’s rebellion was tried to be revealed by considering the archive resources.
