Owners’ Attitude towards Pet Dogs and their Breed Preference in Northern Kerala

Abstract

The study was conducted to assess the attitude of dog owners regarding the rearing of dogs and their breed preference. The attitude was measured using a psychological scale developed following the Likert’s method of summated rating. It was found that 59% of the owners had favourable attitude, 40% neutral and 1% unfavourable attitude towards rearing of dogs. It was observed that 44% of the respondents preferred non- descript dogs.
