Abstract
The Maeotian and Chersonian palaeofloristic assemblage is the first to be described for the Scythian Platform. The Chersonian palynological assemblage belongs to the Balta-Păun Formation and is dominated by the Pseudoschizaea genus, indicating a lacustrine/deltaic environment. The same biotope is revealed by the Hydrosporis, Sparganium and Nymphaea genera. In addition to these taxa, pollen of Tilia, Ilex, Castanea, Eucommia, vegetation occupying the middle altitude hilly areas around the sedimentation basin, has also been identified. Gymnosperms are poorly represented in the palynological assemblage, only rare specimens of the Pinus and Picea having been identified. The fossil leaves described in the present paper originate from the Mînzaţi locality and are Maeotian in age. Seven taxa were determined, the largest belonging to the Ulmus and the Carpinus genera, which have formed a mixed mesophytic forest. The palaeoclimate was deducted based on the palaeoflora identified using the "Coexistence Approach" method.

The Distribution of Zr, Hf and Y in the soils of Iaşi Municipality: Case Study
Zr, Hf and Y contents were determined via 54 samples collected from the topsoils of the Botanical Garden in Iaşi. Statistical parameters suggest the presence of a relatively homogeneous population whose mean values (Zr =...
Geochemical and hydrodynamic control of trace element transport in a reservoir: impact of interflow layer
Concentration of trace elements both in the water column (dissolved phase and acid-soluble suspended particles) and in sediments (bulk and acid-soluble particles) was followed for one year in a water reservoir (the Bic...
The Raman study of the white pigment used in Cucuteni pottery
Shards from Cucuteni archaeological sites of Moldavia (eastern part of Romania) were analyzed through Raman spectroscopy in order to identify the white pigment used in the decoration of Cucuteni pottery (cca. 4500–3500 B...
Juraphyllites bucovinicus (UHLIG, 1900) – A rare phyloceratid species from the Early Jurassic of the Praşca klippe (Rarău Syncline, Eastern Carpathians, Romania)
In 1900, Uhlig proposed five new species of ammonites and one brachiopod species, Early Jurassic in age, from the Praşca Klippe (Rarău Syncline, Eastern Carpathians). “Rhacophyllites” bucovinicus is the only phyllocerati...
