Para-badminton – sport for people with disabilities

Abstract

The article presents the fundamental information about para-badminton. It contains mostly information based on observations and experiences of the author and on few elaborations on this topic. Information also comes from elaborations regarding sport for disabled people doing similar sports games with racquets - tennis, table tennis and others. Classes and categories in para-badminton, rules, competitions, conditions and equipment necessary for the game as well as prostheses and sports wheelchairs used by players were presented. Moreover, the basis of parabadminton sports training was discussed. In order to facilitate understanding of the specifi city of para-badminton, it was compared with regular badminton.
