Abstract

Talks onwomen’s access tojusticeis thusbecoming veryrelevanttodaybecauseIndonesian womenstill facemany obstaclesin accessingjusticethrough the mechanism oflaw andjustice. Variousstudiesandreportshave revealedmany obstaclesthat women facein accessingjustice. To helpthe constraintsfaced by womenin accessingjustice, the role ofmediator(intermediaries) such asparalegals, local elite, localactivistsevenasNon GovernmentalOrganizations(NGOs) that providehelp, support, andservicesfor womento be important. Paralegalis a”tool” that isessential toimprovingwomen’s access tojustice. In generalparalegalis a person whoprovides assistanceto fight for justicein society. Workis doneby usingthe existing regulatoryorother legalbreakthrough. This paperdescribes howthe role ofparalegalsin thelegal empowermentto improvewomen’s access tojustice.
