PARAMETRIC ANALYSIS FOR THE DESIGN OF A 4 POLE RADIAL PERMANENT MAGNET GENERATOR FOR SMALL WIND TURBINES

Journal Title: Power Electronics and Drives - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 2

Abstract

Background: A review of the literature gives some guidelines for the design of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). Material and methods: In this work a deeper analysis of the available topologies applied to a 3 phase radial flux generator for Small Wind Turbines (SWT) is discussed. Some parametric finite element analysis and simulation are compared for design purposes. Results: Crucial values obtained for the direct drive SWT design-criteria are presented. Conclusions: Finally, a discussion of the results in comparison with the literature is presented as a step towards design optimization.
