Patient Referral to Physical Therapy Department

Abstract
hysical therapy is an important health care profession. Globally physical therapists are dealing with a wide range of problems including musculoskeletal, neurological, pediatric and geriatric etc. Thus, improving the quality of life. Clinical, Educator, Administrator, Consultants, physical therapy scientists are working in every setup now a days. Physical therapy examination starts with a proper physical examination. After which a proper diagnosis is made and treatment plan is given to patient according to his disability. There are normally 7 sessions per weak that can be increased according to patient condition. Physical therapists are working as the back bone of every setup in public health as they play an important role in rehabilitation. When patients requiring physical therapy services are referred early to physical therapist their treatment can be more efficient. It is also been seen that physical therapy remains second referral profession in many parts of the world. Normally the referral system depends on the other health care professional that how much he has knowledge about physical therapy treatment how much he believes in physical therapy and his relations with the physical therapist. It is clearly seen in Pakistan even after so much development in physical therapy treatment protocol other health care professional avoid referring his patient to physical therapy regardless of how much patient needs the physical therapy treatment. In Pakistan still a large number of patients rely on other health care professionals like orthopedic surgeons for referral to physical therapy department Physical therapy is at top of the pyramid of health care professionals. Physical therapists are required to make independent referral and treatment decision. Physical therapists are highly qualified professionals in their field. They have passed number of exams to get this five year. Degreeprogram, Masters and PhD degrees there should be an open and proper referral system to physical therapy from other health care professionals which will help in detecting and treating disabilities or early stage. This will help in diagnosing many issues. Pains, disabilities and deformities on early stage and giving proper rehabilitation physical therapy treatment to patients.
