Patients perception of outcome in arthroscopic subacromial decompression using proms scores
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain, with higher incidence in middle age and elderly population; this will have an impact upon their activities of daily living and quality of life. Aim was to assess the outcome of Arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASAD) based on patient’s perception of their outcome using patient reported outcome measure scores (PROMs). 50 patients with SIS, who underwent ASAD from April 2015 to January 2017 at NHS Tayside, who were part of Tayside Upper Limb Evaluation Programme (TULEP) were included in this study. Improvement in mean postoperative PROMs scores at 6 months and 1 year postoperative was observed, with maximum improvement at 6 month postoperative period, however, less improvement was noted from 6 months to 1 year postoperatively which was statistically significant. Improvement in PROMs postoperatively was better appreciated inpatients aged less than 50 years, females, low BMI, and left shoulder pathology. Patients who were dissatisfied at 6 months postoperatively had continued to score less at 1 year postoperative. Pain was the most common reason for dissatisfaction. This study suggested that ASAD for impingement gives a high patient satisfaction with significant improvement in function and quality of life.

Functional outcome of surgically treated ankle fractures
Purpose: Ankle fractures are amongst the most common injuries treated by orthopaedics surgeons. Open reduction and internal fixation is the standard of care for unstable ankle fractures. In this study, we intend to study...
Outcome of radial nerve injury associated with fracture humeral shaft fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation
Radial nerve palsy with humeral shaft fracture is common injury which can result in significant motor and sensory impairment of the arm and the wrist, leading to a serious handicap. We attempted to find out the incidence...
The study of distal ¼ diaphyseal extra articular fractures of humerus treated with antegrade intramedullary interlocking nailing
Humerus fractures are one of the most commonly encountered Orthopaedic injuries after fall and road traffic accidents. In general, humerus diaphysis fractures accounts for 1 to 2 % of all fractures occurring in the human...
Analysis of extra articular proximal third tibial fractures treated with interlocked intramedullary nailing
Background: Fractures of the proximal third of tibia shaft have historically higher malunion rates than those of the midshaft. These fractures have been notoriously difficult to treat. With the advent of deepened underst...
