PAVLO KOVALEVSKY – THE FAMOUS UKRAINIAN PSYCHIATRIST, PROFESSOR OF KHARKIV UNIVERSITY (TO THE 165TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH)

Abstract

The present paper is devoted to Pavlo Kovalevsky (1849/1850–1931) – the famous Ukrainian psychiatrist, one of the founders Kharkiv psychiatric school, alumnus, professor, dean of the medical faculty, the first head of the specialized department of Kharkiv University. Various aspects (scientific, medical, pedagogical, publishing and societal) of his multifaceted activities were characterized. Conclusions about the role of the Kharkiv period in the creative biography of the scientist were drawn. Promising areas for future research were determined. In prospect it enables to show the value of achievements of P. I. Kovalevsky on a European scale.
