PECULIARITIES AND METHODS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MODEL FOR PREPARATION OF THE FUTURE DECK OFFICERS FOR PROFESSIONALLY-ORIENTED COMMUNICATION BY MEANS OF CASE-TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

The article characterizes peculiarities and methods for implementation of the model for preparation of the future deck officers for professionally-oriented communication by means of case-technologies. This model consists of three interconnected stages. The first stage – motivational and targeted – aimed at ensuring the formation of motivation to professionally-oriented communication, motivation to succeed in the professionally-oriented communication, formation of communicative tolerance through acuaintance of students with features of future professional activity. For this purpose various forms and types of extracurricular and classroom sessions were used: discussions, round tables, group trainings, meetings with representatives of different nationalities, captains, and mates. The second stage – substantive and action-related – aimed at building knowledge of foreign professionally-orientated maritime language, knowledge of the specifics of verbal and nonverbal communication, ethical standards of professionallyoriented communication, the ability to resolve conicts; self-control during professional communication. It was to this end that the author used materials from the teaching and methodological manual «Cases on Board Vessels», developed by her, its purpose is to encourage the use of well proven case-technologies in teaching Maritime English in a competency-based approach. The third stage – productive and creative – included training of individual creative work and enhancing professionallyoriented communicative skills by means of case-technology during specially-created problem situations. In addition to this, the article outlines the procedural stages of work with cases during practice session: preparatory, analytical, productive and creative. The author makes detailed overview of the implementation of the teaching and methodological manual «Cases on Board Vessels» and a special course in learning process, which included lectures, seminars and practice sessions, individual creative work, independent work.
