The structure of compound words is studied on the base of morphological, semantic and syntactic characteristics. The typical models of composites in English economic discourse are identified. It is concluded that two- and three-component lexical units are dominant. The importance of identifying the semantic centre within composites is stressed. The elements of different styles (informal, business, scientific etc.) are found out in the structure of compound words in English economic discourse.
