Journal Title: Наука і освіта - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue 11
Abstract
The article deals with the features of personal and situational anxiety on the basis of the theoretical review of psychological and pedagogical literature. The article is aimed at defining how situational anxiety influences teenagers’ adaptability to new conditions of staying in the child centre “Moloda Hvardiia” (Odesa, Ukraine), as well as examining features of their behaviour and communication with other people. Thus, it has been revealed that teenagers with the high level of situational anxiety are more aggressive than peers or, on the contrary, do their best to avoid contacts with other people. The projective methods «Inexistent Animal» and «A Man in the Rain» have been used in order to determine the level of anxiety and personal features of teenagers. After all, projective techniques allow to obtain the necessary information about the features of children’s emotional sphere, peculiarities of their relations with other people and their behaviour on the whole. The survey involved 59 teenagers aged from 10 to 14, who were having rest in the Ukrainian child centre «Moloda Hvardiia». The forward estimation has shown that most of teenagers were anxious and self-unconfident. In order to decrease the level of the anxiety the following methods have been used: games allowing to improve the relations between teenagers, to make the atmosphere in group more favourable; work with drawings of dolphins, teenagers’ group drawings; conversations, face-to-face communication, work with associative metaphorical cards. The re-examination has shown that the percentage of teenagers who have high level of anxiety and some troubles with adaptation has considerably decreased. On the basis of practical work with teenagers it has been revealed that the applied trainings have considerably reduced the anxiety level in teenagers as they help not only to learn each other better, but also to solve the existing problems.
