Peculiarities of the EU innovation and investment development in the framework of interregional cooperation

Abstract
The research of interregional cooperation of the European Union member countries in innovation and investment area is presented in the article. It is indicated that intensification of the EU interregional cooperation in innovation and investment area requires coordination of the actions of all the participants as far as integration of interested structures in the implementation of investment and innovation. As a result of a comprehensive evaluation of the European Union countries’ interregional cooperation in innovation and investment area it is revealed that Eurozone economy growth is provided mainly by three leading economies – Germany, Great Britain and France. It is noted that in addition to innovations another area of interregional cooperation in the EU countries is investment. The analysis shows that the dynamics of European investment is uneven and alongside it there is slow growth of FDI in the European Union. This is due to the instability of the global financial market. Based on the analysis it is grounded that EU countries increased investment in research and development. Along with the leading EU countries high growth rates of investment in research and development are demonstrated by Finland, Greece and Hungary. It is determined that the structure of R & D funding the growing share belongs to business sector. Concerning R & D funding by TNCs, it is noted that along with US corporations, leaders are also corporations from EU countries, namely Germany, Great Britain, France and Switzerland. The article states that at present expanding the boundaries of international exchange of high technology is observed. While analyzing the structure of high-tech industries it is noted that there is a rapid increase in production of office and computer equipment and communication equipment. Over the same period the aerospace industry, pharmaceutics, production of medical, precision and optical instruments showed significantly lowerrates of outputgrowth. The analysis shows that over the past decade there have been significant changes in the EU in the sphere of innovations, innovation policy and mechanisms to stimulate innovation. Currently, the EU moves to a new strategy of innovation stimulation, which implies increased spending for research and development, creating a common European research and innovation area and strengthening regional innovation policy. It is determined that the member states of the European Union have embarked on further deepening of interregional cooperation in the field of research and development and improving the efficiency of innovation that will strengthen their competitive position in the global market of modern technologies.
