PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLATION OF AMERICAN ABSURD LITERATURE

Abstract
The translation of absurd literature, as a literary text, is one of the most popular trends at present time. Nowadays, absurd, being a metaphor for “out of harmony” or “ridiculous”, presupposes the presence of many meanings. Absurd is an aesthetic category that expresses the negative properties of the world and is opposed to such aesthetic categories as beautiful and sublime, based on positive universal value of the object. Absurd is always updated in culture at the moment of crisis, critical periods of its development. The article discusses the peculiarities of translating American absurd literature, the relation between language and culture within the field of sociocultural translation. Translation of absurd literature is a complex and multifaceted kind of human activity, where different cultures, personalities, thinking, literature, epochs, traditions and attitudes are faced.The results of this study show that the cultural value has a great impact on the translator itself in making the right decision for choosing adequate words and strategy in translating cultural expressions.
