Pengaruh Pelatihan Goal Setting terhadap Motivasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris Siswa

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of goal setting training on students' motivation to learn English . Subjects in this study were 26 students class XIIA of SMK "X" Sleman , which is divided into 13 students as the experimental group and 13 students as a control group . The data was collected using a scale of English lerning motivation, interviews and observations. The study design used was pre post control group design . Analysis of the study is a quantitative and qualitative analysis . Quantitative analysis using the Mann - Whitney test to determine students' English lerning motivation after a given goal setting training. The qualitative analysis is done based on observation, interviews and worksheets. The results of the study are the pre-test and post-test English lerning motivation showed improvement after the training given to the value of Z = -4359, P = 0.000, P < 0.05. In the pre-test and follow-up English lerning motivation showed improvement after two weeks of training given to the value of Z = -2500, P = 0.012, P < 0.05. The conclusion of this study is the goal setting training can enhance students' English lerning motivation class XII SMK "X".
