Performance and Emission Studies of Hydro treated Refined Sunflower Oil As Alternate Fuel in DI Diesel Engine

Journal Title: International Journal of Engineering and Science Invention - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 2

Abstract

In now a days vegetable oil is one of the most attractive alternatives for diesel engine. The present work is focused on evaluation of the performance and emission studies of a diesel engine fuelled with a sunflower oil diesel blends. Sunflower seed oil was extracted from the sunflower seed and tested the physical and chemical properties. By analyzing the graphs, it was observed that the brake thermal efficiency was increased by 5.5% and NO, HC emissions were found to be increased compared to diesel at full load. From the experimental results, it can be observed that 10% of sunflower seed oil mixture mixed with 90% of diesel is the suitable blend for Diesel engine without heating and any engine modifications.
