Period as a marker of intentions of argumentation in poetic discourse

Abstract
The article deals with period as a figurative-rhetorical construction, which gives the utterance rhythmicality, dynamism and fluency, creates aesthetic sophistication of poetic communication and serves as a relevant means of the speaker’s intentions. In particular, a wealth of factual material allows to record the realization of the intention of argumentation in the period which, being strategically projected on the speech addressee in order to convince him / her of the truth, expediency and importance of the message, serves to substantiate the speaker’s position. Binary construction of period, represented by various syntactic constructions and some stylistic figures, contributes to the substantiation and argumentation of the author’s thoughts, provides clear outline for his / her assertion or hypothesis and creates expressiveness and rhythmicality of poetic discourse in general.
