Periosteal chondroma of proximal ulna manifesting as medial elbow pain FEMUR

Journal Title: Journal of Bone and Joint Diseases - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 0

Abstract

Periosteal, or juxtacortical, chondroma is a rare benign cartilaginous surface tumor of the bone. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice, with a good outcome reported in most of the cases. It resembles periosteal chondrosarcoma, both clinically and histopathologically, and differentiation between the two entities can be difficult. A larger size (>5 cm) and evidence of medullary invasion favors chondrosarcoma. We are reporting a rare case of periosteal chondroma of right proximal ulna in a young adult, which was successfully treated with extraperiosteal resection aer a careful diagnosis.
