PERMANENT PACEMAKER IMPLANTATION - IGIMS EXPERIENCE.

Journal Title: Journal of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

ABSTRACT Implantation of a permanent cardiac pacemaker is a frequently used therapeutic modality in bradycardia. Cardiac pacemakers have evolved from single chamber non-programmable devices to dual chamber devices with extensive programmability. The implantation of the device is only the initial step in the lifelong management of the patient with a pacemaker, and long -term follow-up is vital not only for the safety of the patient but is also the key to optimal utilization of the pacing system. We lack any pacemaker implantation data in Bihar. The retrospective study was conducted to know the demographic profile, various indications and mode of permanent pacemakers implanted at IGIMS, Bihar.
