Journal Title: Stanley Medical Journal - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
AIMS: To find the incidence and pattern of adverse effects with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors METHODS AND MATERIAL: Adverse effects data was collected using suspected adverse drug reaction monitoring form by central drug standard and control organization and by clinical examination of the patient. Causality analysis was done using Naranjo probability assessment scale for adverse drug reactions RESULTS: Totally twenty nine adverse effects were noted within the study period , of which 14 reactions were classified as probable adverse drug reactions (ADR’s) and 15 reactions as possible ADR’s . CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed incidence of adverse drug effects with SSRI’s is considerable and hence routine adverse drug monitoring of antidepressants is essential at all levels of health care
