Phytases and myo-inositol modulate performance, bone mineralization and alter lipid fractions in the serum of broilers
Journal Title: Journal of Animal and Feed Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 22, Issue 1
Abstract
Under conditions simulating intestinal digestion in broilers, phytase B was found to free myo-inositol from low non-phytate phosphorus maize–soyabean meal-based and wheat–soyabean meal-based diets, whereas both 3- and 6-phytases A accelerated myo-inositol release only in the presence of phytase B. In the feeding experiment, myo-inositol at 1 g · kg–1 increased the feed intake and body weight gain of broilers fed both types of feeds. Phytase B at 1300 acid phosphatase units (AcPU) · kg–1 enhanced feed consumption, body weight gain, and tibia mineralization, whereas phytase B mixed with 6-phytase A at 500 phytase units (FTU) · kg–1 produced further enhancements in performance and bone mineralization. After 6 weeks, broilers fed the maize-based diets supplemented with both phytase B and 6-phytase A had increased serum concentrations of triglycerides and HDL-cholesterol, as well as an enhanced HDL/total cholesterol ratio. The increases in this ratio cannot be attributed to the release of phosphorus or to the generation of myoinositol by the supplemented enzymes, but can only be explained as effects of intermediate products of phytate dephosphorylation.

The effect of intracerebroventricular infusions of ghrelin on the secretory activity of the GnRH/LH system in peripubertal ewes
Ghrelin is a 28-amino acid orexigenic peptide, synthesized mainly by cells located in the stomach mucosa, that can be also engaged in modulation of reproductive functions. The aim of this study was to investigate the eff...
Efficacy of different levels of Escherichia coli phytase in hens fed maize-soyabean meal based diets with a decreased non-phytate phosphorus content
The aim of this experiment was to determine the efficacy of different inclusion levels of new type phytase (ECP) synthesized by Escherichia coli and expressed in Pichia pastoris yeast (Optiphos) in maize-soyabean meal ba...
Responses of Nili-Ravi buffalo to aflatoxin B1 with and without toxin adsorbents
The objective of the study was to determine the responses of Nili-Ravi buffalo to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in terms of feed intake, haematological and serum biochemical parameters and to compare the efficacy of three differen...
Effect of an inoculant and enzymes on fermentation quality and nutritive value of erect milkvetch (Astragalus adsurgens Pall.) silages
The objective of this experiment was to determine the ensiling characteristics, microbial changes and in vitro degradation of erect milkvetch (Astragalus adsurgens Pall.) treated with different additives. Erect milkvetch...
