Piękno Maryi – wizje mistyczne – sztuka. Turza Śląska – śląska Fatima: kult i wyobrażenia Matki Bożej Fatimskiej

Abstract
The beauty of divine and saint figures in the visions of religious art is deeply rooted in the originating texts: the Bible, commentaries, prayers and songs. A huge role is played by the tradition of artistic development of an image, which is the result of experiences and skills of different artists from different regions, nations, creating at different times. Texts telling the truth about the saint and divine figures are, at the same time, the reason of their beauty, which was established by the artistic tradition confirmed by the authority of the Church. The images of Our Lady of Fatima, widely known all over the world, contribute an array of formal aspects concerning the appearance of the revealed Figure of Mary. They illustrate, first of all, Mary’s messages conveyed by the children to the whole world. The present article outlines synthetically the most important features of Mary’s beauty preserved in the history of devotion. On the basis of Sister Lucia’s descriptions of apparitions, the author points out the existing traditional images of Mary, Immaculate Conception and Mary, the Queen of the Holy Rosary. The article shows a historic and artistic presentation of the interior of the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Turza Śląska (near Wodzisław) as the oldest place of worship of Our Lady of Fatima in Poland.
