PITCH-ANGLE ANISOTROPY AND DIFFERENTIAL RIGIDITY SPECTRA OF COSMIC RAYS DURING GLE ON MAY 2 AND 6, 1998
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2022, Vol 8, Issue 2
Abstract
Using data from the worldwide network of neutron monitors (39 stations) and the method of global spectrographic survey, we have studied pitch-angle anisotropy and differential rigidity spectra of cosmic rays during the ground level enhancements on May 2 and 6, 1998. We obtained differential rigidity spectra of solar cosmic rays in these events and determined the maximum rigidities to which protons accelerated. The maximum rigidities of accelerated protons during the ground level enhancements on May 2 was ~2.4; on May 6, ~1.8 GV. The revealed bidirectional pitch-angle anisotropy indicates that Earth was in the IMF loop structure during these events.

POSSIBLE DIFFERENCE IN THE FORMATION OF CORONAL MASS EJECTIONS OF TWO TYPES
Analysis of seven near-limb coronal mass ejections (CMEs) has shown that at distances R<1.4R from the center of the Sun CMEs according to their formation can be divided into two types: type 1 CMEs and type 2 CMEs. In th...
TOPSIDE IONOSPHERE DURING SOLAR COSMIC RAY BURSTS AND FORBUSH DECREASES IN GALACTIC COSMIC RAYS
The paper considers the behavior of the upper ionosphere at heights of the F2 layer during Forbush decreases in galactic cosmic rays (GCR FDs) and solar cosmic ray (SCR) bursts. We use the results of long-term continuous...
CALIBRATION OF SIBERIAN RADIOHELIOGRAPH IMAGES
We discuss the method for automatic calibration of solar radio images derived from the first stage of the multiwave Siberian Radioheliograph (SRH-48). SRH is a 48-element T-shaped radiointerferometer in the 4–8 GHz frequ...
INFLUENCE OF GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCES ON SCINTILLATIONS OF GLONASS AND GPS SIGNALS AS OBSERVED ON THE KOLA PENINSULA
We have compared effects of geomagnetic disturbances during magnetic storms of various types (CME and CIR) and during an isolated substorm on scintillations of GLONASS and GPS signals, using a Septentrio PolaRx5 receiver...
COMPARISON BETWEEN PROBABILITY DENSITY FUNCTIONS OF VERTICAL ELECTRIC CURRENT IN SOLAR ACTIVE REGIONS BASED ON HMI/SDO AND SOT/HINODE DATA
Studying electric currents in solar active regions (AR) is an essential step in understanding solar activity in general and solar flares in particular. In this paper, we compare probability density functions of vertical...
