Placental development and preeclampsia
Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2022, Vol 3, Issue 4
Abstract
Serving as the interface between the fetal and maternal environment during gestation, the placenta plays critical roles in the protection of the developing fetus and the maintenance of pregnancy. The placenta is responsible for blood perfusion and maternal-fetal material exchange, immune tolerance, and the regulation of pregnancy adaptation. Defects in placental development and functional maintenance are in tight association with adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preeclampsia. In this article, we reviewed recent advances on human trophoblast cell differentiation and the construction of placental functional units and discuss the pathogenic factors that may contribute to the occurrence of preeclampsia.

Novel mechanisms and therapies of hematopoietic regulation
Poor hematopoietic function is the common feature of bone marrow(BM) failure diseases. However, the pathogenesis of BM failure diseases has not been fully clarified. Under physiological conditions, the self-renewal and...
Applications and translational research advances of degradable implantable hydrogels
Degradable implantable hydrogels have become a research hotspot in various fields, including wound sealing, hemostasis, tissue regeneration, smart biosensors, and drug delivery systems. This is attributed to their abilit...
Research progress of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in the treatment of osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is defined as a systemic skeletal disease characterised by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, with a consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture. Nowa...
Genipin protects against sepsis via the inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress to attenuate splenocyte apoptosis
Objective This study is undertaken to elucidate the protective effect and molecular mechanism of genipin against cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis. Methods Male C57BL/6 mice were assigned to three groups:...
Nuclear pore complex and stem cell homeostasis
As a channel for mediating exchange between the nucleus and cytoplasm, the nuclear pore com‐ plex (NPC) is a macromolecular complex composed of about 30 nucleoporins. In addition to mediating nucleocy‐ toplasmic transpor...
