Planning and Scheduling of a Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturing Process in IoT

Abstract

The automation has revolutionized the traditional product development scheme by using advanced design and manufacturing technologies such as computer aided design, process planning, and scheduling. However, research in this field was still based mostly on experimentation, as most manufacturing companies did not use simulation techniques in the implementation of their manufacturing planning and scheduling process. In order to address this problem, software developers have put simulation software tools in the market such as Enterprise Resource Planning ERP , Advanced Planning and Scheduling APS , and Risk based Planning and Scheduling RPS systems. In this paper, a methodology to model high degree of accuracy for the production floor, the planning and scheduling of corrugated cardboard manufacturing process through RPS simulation in Internet of Things IoT environment is established. The RPS model is able to generate a deterministic schedule without randomness, create a risk analysis of the planning and scheduling, and handle the uncertainty. Bruno Kemen | Sarhan M.
