Journal Title: ÇOMÜ Ziraat Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 2

Abstract

In this article, adverse effect of plant protection techniques, which is applied during vegetation period of agricultural product or after harvest, reviewed with regard to food safety. Mycotoxins caused by fungi, and residues of pesticides used against the pests and biological control with GMO are the factors affecting safety of agricultural product. MRL values of myctoxins and pesticides for some agricultural product and also notifications in EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) due to mycotoxins and pesticide residues in agricultural products circulating in Europe are given in the study. It is concluded that the best plant protection way against the pest, without any harmful effect of food safety, is integrated pest management (IPM).
