Abstract
Analysis of Alejo Carpentier’s «Reasons of State», devoted to the dictatorship theme, gives a possibility to show consistency with traditions of Quevedo’s picaresque novel in the last third of 20th-century literature. Dialogue between two writers, spaced by the historical time, became an evidence of their spiritual and artistic affinity, and helped to reveal a creative individual in each of them.
