POLICEWOMEN: PORTRAYAL ELEMENTS AS DEPICTED IN TRADE MEDIA

Abstract
The gender issues have been often raised within social sciences in recent years. Since sociology of uniformed groups became a sociological subdiscipline, the issue of equal status of men and women have been discussed in the context of the military, police and many others uniformed services. It has its practical dimension (connected with functioning of these groups), as well as ideological and cultural ones (correlated with tendencies seen in countries of the West). In this article issues of policewomen’s image in trade media such as “Policja 997” and this institution’s official internet site are depicted.
