Abstract
We study the history of the «Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant», its structure at different stages of its development, as well as the strategy used by the organization to capture and provide control over the territories in Syria in 2013-2014. The main goal of this study is to determine the internal structure of the organization, its strategy and tactics to achieve their goals. We use the methods of analysis of primary sources and the organization’s propaganda, the comparative analysis of the structural construction of the organization at various stages of its history. The results of this study should become a material for the further study of the phenomenon of ISIL and the potential threat posed by the organization for the political stability and security of Ukraine.
