Abstract
The paper presents Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, one of the greatest Polish writers of the 20th century, born in 1894 in Kalnik in Ukraine. Ukrainian roots, influences, particular sensitivity to the Polish-Ukrainian relations significantly influenced the unquestionable universality of his works.
