POST-MODIFIED ADJECTIVES IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract
This article examines the role of post-modified adjectives in English grammar, focusing on how they provide additional context, detail, and clarity to adjective usage. Post-modified adjectives are defined as adjectives followed by a modifying phrase, such as prepositional phrases, infinitive clauses, or relative clauses, which elaborate on or refine the meaning of the adjective. Through examples from classic literary works like The Great Gatsby, 1984, and Wuthering Heights, the article demonstrates how post-modification enriches descriptions, adds emotional depth, and enhances reader understanding. It concludes that post-modified adjectives offer a tool for writers to create more nuanced, vivid, and precise portrayals, particularly in literary writing.
