Abstract
The biomechanical model of heart failure is the accepted model that can explain the progressive nature of the disease. Left ventricle (LV) remodelling is the main cause of heart failure secondary to myocardial infarction (MI). The three major biomechanical mechanisms of remodelling after MI are; infarct expansion, nonischemic infarct extension and eccentric hypertrophy of non-infarcted myocardium.
