ПОВЫШЕНИЕ УСТОЙЧИВОСТИ СТЕРЖНЯ ЗА СЧЕТ ИЗМЕНЕНИЯ ДЛИНЫ

Abstract

The article considers a two-span rod, hinged at its ends on rigid supports and reinforced with an intermediate elastic support, compressed by an axial force constant along the length of the rod. The influence of a change in its length on its basic critical force is studied. The length is changed by removing or attaching at the end of one of the spans a section of the rod with the transfer of the end support and the point of application of the compressive force to the end of the formed rod. An arbitrary distribution of the flexural stiffness of the rod along its length is allowed. The position of the intermediate support does not vary. For various stiffness values of the intermediate support, the optimal values of the length of the variable span are determined, at which the critical force of the rod reaches a maximum. Conditions are also established under which the critical force increases or decreases with increasing rod length.
