Abstract

Addiction is a problem that affects the individual in terms of health, social and psychological aspects. Although the causes of addiction differ, they are associated with poverty, crime, peer relations and psychological problems. This problem can prevent the person from making decisions, sustaining his life, and improving himself. The termination of addiction is basically permanent with the desire and motivation of the person.Social workers working in the field of addiction implement different practices and methods in cooperation with individuals to ensure full and whole recovery. Addiction treatments can be diversified with medical and psychological support. Most studies state that mixed treatments are more beneficial than single-channel treatment forms. Treatments with groups as well as treatments with individuals ensure that the healing is permanent. The motivational interview technique used in groups reveals the recovery ambivalence of individuals receiving addiction treatment and supports determination. Studies in this area reveal that the application of motivational interviewing in dependent groups is positively effective and provides a sustainable improvement in the lives of individuals. For this reason, this study is presented as a compilation to reveal the effectiveness of the motivational interview technique used in dependent groups
