PRE-CONDITIONS FOR FORMATION OF COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OF UKRAINE IN THE COMMODITY MARKETS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Abstract

Problem setting. Topicality of the issue is stipulated by necessity of searching those advantages of trade relation organizing, which will enable Ukraine occupying a respective niche in the EU market. Recent research and publications analysis. Different aspects of foreign trade relation development have been researched in scientific papers of A. Smith, B. Havrylyshyn, Z. Brzezinski, F. List, D. Ricardo, S. Sokolenko, G. Soros, J. Stiglitz, A. Filipenko, etc. Nevertheless, dramatic changes, which require both analysis of their consequences and an adequate reaction, are inherent to contemporary international economic relations (primarily trade relations). Paper objective. The research objective is to determine the pre-conditions of effective providing production of goods adhering to the EU standards. Paper main body. Ukraine is reckoned among leaders of information technology development. The IT-industry has all chances for being up-to-date in the world markets of high technologies. Considerable export opportunities are concentrated in the shipbuilding. Ukrainian economy follows the line of speeding-up rates of competitive space machine development, facilitation of commercial exploitation of launch vehicles, formation of conditions for rocket and space complexes of a new generation. The above-mentioned export potential is also inherent to the agriculture. Conclusions of the research. 1. The process of reorientation of Ukraine from the Commonwealth of Independent States to the EU markets significantly changes a regional structure of the export and the import. 2. Meanwhile, positive dynamics of foreign trade operations with the EU countries is not accompanied by optimization of the trade structure. An engineering industry share in the export amount has not changed. 3. In order to transform current technical, intellectual, and scientific pre-conditions being provided by nature into competitive advantages of Ukraine in the external markets there is a need to carry out a strict energetic and recourse-saving public policy and to activate transition to renewable sources of energy. Short Abstract to an article Abstract. The author has analyzed causes of insufficient competitiveness of Ukrainian commodities in international markets. Peculiarities of the structure of foreign trade operations between Ukraine and the EU and their dynamics have been researched. The author has determined advantages of trade in the EU market compared to the Eurasian Customs Union. Directions of optimization of the export and import structure have been substantiated.
