Abstract
This paper presents the current understanding concerning the possibility of predicting radiation-induced osteonecrosis of the jaw and its prevention, as well as currently used conservative treatment options for both, as well as different methods of surgical treatment. Describes the formation of a complex pathomechanism of osteoradionecrosis. The importance of the need to initiate co-existence of additional factors in the development of severe complications of oncological treatment. Highlighted the fundamental importance of a thorough rehabilitation of the mouth before the start of irradiation, the avoidance of any treatment during his lifetime and after, as well as long-term oral health in the perioperative period and during irradiation and after its completion, thus avoiding the difficult to treat complications.
