Preparation and Barrier Property of Graphene Oxide/Polyvinyl Alcohol Composites

Abstract
Graphene oxide( GO) was prepared by flake graphite. Then,GO was introduced into polyvinyl alcohol matrix to fabricate GO / PVA composites. By means of X-ray diffraction analysis and differential scanning calorimetry analysis,the crystallization behaviors of the composites were investigated. Hydrogen gas barrier property of the composites was also determined by using a gas permeability tester. The results indicate that GO mass fraction plays an important role in the crystallization behavior of PVA. When the GO mass fraction is lower than 0. 5%,the layered GO leads to a increase in the crystallinity of PVA. However,When the GO mass fraction is higher than 0. 5%,the crystallinity of PVA is decreased. The hydrogen gas barrier property of composites is influenced by the synergistic effects of GO mass fraction and crystallinity of PVA.
