Journal Title: Dicle Tıp Dergisi - Year 2015, Vol 42, Issue 1
Abstract
Schwannomas arising from the peripheral nerve sheath is very slow-growing benign tumor. A 34 -years-old male patient was hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis, and the digital rectal examination revealed extraluminal mass of rectum. After diagnosis appendectomy and biopsy of the mass was performed. 1 month after, the mass was completely excised by laparotomy. Although extirpation is the optimal surgical treatment of tumors of the presacral region, the surgical approach and type of surgery is controversial. Key word: Schwannoma, presacral mass, surgical extirpation
