Abstract

Corythucha ciliata (Say) (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae) is recorded for the first time from Argentina, which feeds primarily on sycamore (Platanus x hispanica Mill. ex Münchh), as well as extending its distribution in Chile. Additionally, Corythucha arcuata (Say), which feeds on common oak (Quercus robur L.), is recorded for the first time in Argentine territory, and its conspecificity with Corythucha bonaerensis Montemayor nov. syn. New distributional and host plant records for Corythucha argentinensis Monte are also given, and the taxonomy of the Argentine species of the genus is discussed. Images of collected specimens are provided and their diagnostic characters are given. The importance of the appearance of these species in the country is briefly commented.
