Pressure ulcers in patient with polytrauma in the emergency areas of a third level ho spital
Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2023, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Introduction:this research aims to justify the need to prevent pressure ulcers (PU) in the intra-hospital environment, a serious problem in the area of health where nursing staff have the responsibility, within their role, since it is overestimated. that 66.5% occur in the hospital and that 96% are avoidable. Objective:Determine the need to establish PU prevention measures in at-risk patients. Materials and methods: information was collected from 50 of the 100 adult patients with polytrauma treated in the Emergency and Critical Care Area, between March 10 and September 15. 2023. A prospective analytical longitudinal observational study was carried out with accidental probabilistic sampling that consisted of assessing the integrity of the patient's skin upon arrival, with the assessment of intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors, and performing reassessments within 24 and 48 hours to patients. Results:The identification of the risk group through the Braden scale and the early implementation of prevention measures would reduce the incidence of PU during the first two days of admission. Conclusion:As health personnel, we must become aware and responsible for the potential seriousness of the problem that so directly affects us and acquire what is called a “culture of prevention,” which is nothing more than assimilating the importance of prevention and acting accordingly, using all the resources that, curiously, are within our reach
