PREVALENCE OF SU’ AL-HADM (DYSPEPSIA) IN VICINITY OF LUCKNOW UTTAR PRADESH

Abstract
Su’ al-Hadm (Dyspepsia) refers to symptoms originating in the upper GI tract; the term is used to describe upper abdominal pain or discomfort often exacerbated with eating, early satiety, postprandial abdominal bloating or distension, and nausea. In Unani system of Medicine, Su’ al-Hadm and its cause, symptoms and treatment was very well described by Unani physicians. Symptoms associated with Dyspepsia may be mimicked by other esophageal and extraesophageal diseases including achalasia, Zenker diverticulum, gastroparesis, gallstones, Ascitis, peptic ulcer disease, functional dyspepsia, and angina pectoris. The prevalence of Su’ al-Hadm (Dyspepsia) is very common not in India but globally. This systematic review of population-based studies found that the prevalence of upper GI symptoms varied from 11% to 41%. This article helps in providing scientific information on Su’ al-Hadm showing its prevalence in Vicinity of Lucknow Uttar Pradesh to protect and promote health of population in large.
